I am proud to present this weeks Twin Cities Tuesdays featured blogger, Josie Franske of With a Wink and a Smile. Josie has been posting about fashion, style and her love of food three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) for more than two years.
Blog: With a Wink and a Smile
City: Minneapolis
Style: Classic girly prep with a twist
A: I started With a Wink and a Smile about two years ago, during my freshman year at the University of Notre Dame. I was feeling uninspired in the dead of winter and needed a creative outlet — the blog definitely provided that and has given me so many great opportunities since!
Q: You have a couple post series, what’s your favorite?
A: I’m usually happy with my outfit posts, although I don’t get them up as often as I’d like. I love showing range with food posts as well, and I’m a big fan of entertaining, so the “Entertain Me” series has also been a favorite of mine.
Q: What blogs do you follow religiously?
A: It’s no secret that I’m more than a little addicted to Cupcakes and Cashmere. I love how Emily combines fashion, food, and lifestyle posts to create something completely new and original. As for Twin Cities blogs, I love Zipped – I’m lucky enough to have met Chelsea and she’s as gorgeous and talented in person as she seems.
Q: What is your favorite summer trend? Why?
A: I’m really loving neon right now. It’s just so bold and bright and I love that it can be embraced fully or incorporated into any look in small doses.
Q: You include food in your posts a lot. What’s your favorite recipe for summer?
A: I LOVE food. I think it’s such a great personal expression and there’s something so satisfying about creating something and having it turn out just right — and, of course, having it taste great. Anything with fresh produce is fair game in the summertime — I recently featured a strawberry focaccia bread with a balsamic drizzle and goat cheese that was so light and fresh for summer.
Q: What do you like about TC fashion?
A: I think that my favorite thing about Twin Cities fashion is how it’s emerging. It really is a rising fashion scene, and I love watching the city come into its own bit by bit.
