I’ve loved the Olympics for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl in gymnastics, I dreamed of going to the Olympics and competing against the world’s best. When I joined cross-country, that dream was replaced with a dream to compete in a long distance race in the Olympics. Honestly, I was never that great at gymnastics or running, but I’ll always dream big. Now, my Olympic dream is to just go to the Olympics and cheer on the amazing athletes.
The most memorable Olympics for me was the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy. We had foreign exchange students from Germany and Columbia at our school that year. After school everyday, we would go to the computer lab to compare the number of medals each country had won. It was all for fun, but it helped me see the Olympics from another point of view.
I haven’t been able to enjoy the Olympics as much as I would have liked this year because I don’t have a TV at my house in Litchfield. But, this weekend when I went home to Fargo I was able to watch a few of my favorite events with Robert. We watched a few track & field events, gymnastics and swimming and diving. I also watched synchronized swimming by myself while he was at work yesterday – boy, is that a crazy event!
Someday, I hope to make it to the Olympics to cheer on Team U.S.A. and all the other amazing athletes, but for now I’ve put together an Olympic/Team U.S.A. inspired Polyvore set to show my support.
