Being home for the holidays and traveling from here to there and every where else has forced me to blog from my phone. The other day I briefly wrote about some sugar scrubs that my mom, sister and I made for Christmas gifts this year, but I wasn’t able to post all the photos or links, so here it is:
As I was looking for inexpensive, creative gifts for Christmas, I came across these adorable sugar scrubs on Pinterest.
They were originally made by Rachel on Maybe Matilda. You can find her full tutorial here.
All it takes is sugar, olive oil, scented essential oils (we used pear berry and cucumber melon) and some jars! We originally planned on following her tutorial and making the same decorative jars, but our paper was too thick and jars varied a little in size which made it difficult.

So, we decided to improvise instead. My mom found some white ribbon and some jewels from old crafts, and we made our own design. We printed out some labels and used mod podge to stick them to the decorative paper and the lids.
Then, we mod podged the ribbon around the outside of the lid, making a bow and finished it with a little jewel.
The final product was adorable and smelled amazing! We tried some of the leftovers and it makes your hands feel so soft and clean!
We also made another scrub found on Pinterest, Citrus Salt Body Scrub by Paula Deen, and placed it in the same jars.
Have you ever tried a homemade body scrub or soap? How’d it turn out?
