When I think of maxi dresses and skirts, images of beaches and sand and sunshine come to mind. But after seeing one of my favorite style bloggers, Andrea Kerbuski of Blonde Bedhead, sport a beautiful a maxi skirt this winter, I decided to give a try.

I paired this blue and turquoise tribal print maxi dress from Forever 21 with a black v-neck sweater from Express and black oxford booties. I love how easily this lovely strapless summer maxi converts into the perfect winter skirt. It’s a great transitional piece – who would have guessed?

My favorite thing about maxi dresses is that they are super cute yet super comfy. You can wear them for a day or night out or for a day chilling inside your little apartment – like I did.
