As I stared at my closet once again searching for a new pairing, I decided to start with something simple and neutral. This little black tank top and gray cardigan were perfect! I paired them with flare jeans and my JellyPop heels.
But of course that wasn’t all – you know me, I had to add a little color! To the scarves, I went! I wanted something thick and colorful. This big mustard yellow scarf was perfect! I always love pairing this lovely color with gray. The two just compliment each other so well.
Although I loved the yellow scarf, I decided to save it for another day and instead went with my other thick colorful scarf: this gorgeous pink/red/purple animal print one! Love it! It was just the pop of color I needed!
I love how scarves, especially colorful ones, can completely transform a look. They’re also so much fun to play around with and tie different ways. I plan to work them into my looks more often.
One of the best presents I got for Christmas this year was two pair of patterned tights: bows & hearts from Forever 21. (Thank you, Sarah!) If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you may know that this is the third pair of bow tights I’ve owned. I fell in love with them a little over a year ago when I found them at Forever 21 and wore them a few times.
I was super disappointed and sad when they tore and I had to throw them away. I was determined to get another pair, so I went back to Forever 21 but their tights had been cleaned out. Everytime I went to the mall I looked for them…no luck. A few months later I ended up ordered a pair from Yes Style in Korea. It took forever for them to get here, but when they finally arrived…I was ecstatic!
But again I was disappointed when they tore, and I could no longer wear them. But to my surprise Robert and Sarah found some at Forever 21 in the Mall of America and bought them for me for Christmas! Best present ever! AND they also got me some lovely heart tights!! I couldn’t be more happy!
So, here I am finally back in some patterned tights for you all! Isn’t it lovely?
When I was hired as a sales associate at DSW, I went shopping for more pieces to add to my business/business-casual wardrobe. I looked for pieces that would be versatile because I’m a college student and couldn’t afford to buy a ton of new clothes. I ended up buying a few tops and dresses, black pants, a jacket and two blazers. My favorite pieces by far have been the cropped black blazer and white jacket, which are so versatile.
Since buying the two, I have been able to create so many more work-appropriate looks. I hadn’t given it much thought at the time, but I have a lot of dressy tank tops. And when paired with a blazer, they are perfect for work.
Tomorrow is the last day of my third week as an intern reporter for West Central Tribune in Willmar, and I haven’t yet worn the same outfit twice. I’ve fallen in love with my black cropped blazer and my white jacket. I can’t get enough of them. I swear I could wear one of the two with almost every thing I own.
Here are some great blazers and jackets from my favorite store Forever 21:
I love cropped blazers because they fit my short torso well.
