Wedding Guest Attire Pt. 4

I published a post about finding the perfect dress for the wedding last week. It was a purple and green floral printed strapless dress that would have been perfect for a summer wedding. I bought it for the wedding I attended this last Saturday, but I never wore it.

I was in a bit of a hurry when I bought the dress and I knew it was too big, but I thought I could make it work. However, when I tried it on again, I realized there was no way I could wear it to the wedding. I brought it back to 20 Something on Friday and luckily they had received a few new dresses including one I absolutely loved: a red spaghetti strap knit dress with rhinestones braided into the straps.

I paired it with a cream cardigan and stilettos to create the perfect outfit for a wedding. I finished the look with a rhinestone bow pendant necklace, curly hair and my favorite accessory – my matching boyfriend! :)

I’ll be going to another wedding this Saturday, so I’m on the hunt for the perfect dress. I want to go for something fun and flirty with a colorful summer print this time. As I searched the internet for the perfect dress, I put together this Polyvore. Being in Litchfield and working in Willmar, I’m very limited on my choice of stores, so I made the Polyvore with dresses only from Herberger’s.

Wedding Guest Dresses

These dresses are great for summer. Finish the look with a short necklace, a cardigan and some strappy sandal wedges for the perfect wedding guest look.

Check back next week to see if I found my perfect dress!

Wedding Guest Attire Pt. 2

If you’ve been invited to a wedding with a semi-formal dress code, head over to Lulus and check out their special occasion dresses. They have a wide variety of styles and colors. Just don’t choose a white dress!

Here are a few dresses I found on Lulus that I wouldn’t mind wearing to a wedding. The two on the left are great transitional pieces as they could be worn in a business setting as well. But, if paired with the right shoes – strappy black high heel sandals – and the right jewelry – anything sparkly, they would be perfect for a wedding. The dresses on the right are more fun and freeing. I love the shear fabric and the flowing shapes. These dresses are perfect for a semi-formal or semi-casual wedding. Dress them up a bit with some jewelry and cute high heels and add a jacket or cardigan.

I love all these dresses because you can wear them for almost any occasion, yet they are still appropriate for a wedding.

Wedding Guest Attire Pt. 1

My favorite time of the year is here: summer wedding season. I love any excuse to go shopping and pick out a new dress, which is exactly what I did last Thursday. Living in Litchfield and working in Willmar has really limited my shopping choices for semi-formal dresses to JCPenney and Herbergers at Kandi Mall in Willmar.

I came across a gorgeous little dress that I would have loved to buy, BUT it was white. And although some people say it’s no longer “off-limits” to wear white to a wedding, I can’t stand the thought of wearing a white dress to any wedding other than my own. Luckily, I found this absolutely gorgeous pale pink lace overlay dress instead.

As soon as I tried it on, I knew it was perfect. And I knew exactly how I would style it. I paired it with my Lace Harmony Seychelles wedges and a white jacket from Forever 21 (it’s okay to wear white accessories). The light dress was perfect for the hot and sunny wedding day.

Shopping for wedding guest attire is fun and exciting, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Stay away from a lot of white. It’s the bride’s day, not yours, so save yourself from upsetting the bride and choose a different color.

2. Stay classy. There will be guests of all ages at the wedding including the bride and groom’s grandparents, so don’t wear anything too short. And if you chose a strapless or spaghetti strap dress, bring a cardigan or jacket to cover-up your shoulders during the ceremony.

Be sure to check back for more tips on shopping for wedding guest attire coming up in later posts.
